State Rep. Jake Teshka was elected to serve House District 7 in 2020. Born and raised in the South Bend area, he graduated from St. Joseph High School before moving away for a brief period during college.
Teshka’s career has included various public affairs and advocacy roles as well as private sector business experience. In addition to his career as a business development professional, he has continued to focus on making a positive impact in his community. Most recently, he served as Common Council Representative for the city of South Bend's 5th District until elected to the Indiana House of Representatives. While on the city council, Teshka sat on the South Bend Transpo Board of Directors and the South Bend Redevelopment Commission.
Teshka lives in North Liberty with his wife and two children. He and his family attend The Vineyard Church in Mishawaka, and Teshka helps support his community as a Boys & Girls Club volunteer and member of the boards of directors for both the South Bend History Museum and the Boy Scouts of America, LaSalle Council.

Note to the Press – State Reps. Dale DeVon (R-Granger) and Jake Teshka (R-North Liberty) issued the following statements today in response to the State Budget Committee approving $3 million for the South Bend Sports Complex. The funds will be used to make improvements to the aging Byers Softball Complex to attract more tournaments and improve visitor experience. Updates will include refurbishing the press box, concession and restroom facilities. In addition, funding will be used to fully rebuild the main softball fields, install new sod and infield material, replace backstops and damaged fencing, replace damaged walkways and install vegetative screening. Additionally, improvements include the installation of a new splashpad and parking area, as well as rebuilding the parking lot and improving signage. During the 2023 legislative session, DeVon and Teshka voted in support of the state funding as part of the new two-year state budget. The State Budget Committee formally approved releasing the funds on Friday, along with funding several other projects across the state.

STATEHOUSE (Aug. 22, 2022) – "Reading comprehension is essential to a student's overall academic success, and serves as the foundation of all learning. With this historic investment, we can get Hoosier students back on track as we are seeing declines in reading test scores, and meet the goal of having 95 percent of Hoosier students pass IREAD by 2027. The statewide strategy, funded through a partnership between Indiana and the Lilly Endowment, with help build stronger foundational reading skills that young Hoosiers need. By deploying instructional coaches to schools, offering stipends to teachers who participate in professional development focused on the Science of Reading, providing targeted support for students who need the most help in improving their reading skills, and creating a literacy center focused on Science of Reading strategies, we will undoubtedly better prepare young Hoosiers for future success."

Both Jackie and Zach were dedicated public servants who cared deeply for our community. More than that, they were loyal friends, loving family members and messengers of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I join our entire region in mourning tonight but take comfort in knowing that they are at rest in their Savior's arms. I pray God's peace over their families at the incomprehensible time."
