State Rep. David Abbott was born and raised in Fort Wayne. He graduated from Elmhurst High School and attended Indiana University.
Abbott served Noble County for 30 years in various local government positions. He was on the Rome City Town Council for 27 years, served as a Noble County commissioner for three years; and has been on a number of boards, commissions and committees throughout the county. Abbott strives to work for his constituents by maintaining fiscal responsibility, smaller government and greater local control.
Abbott and his wife, Lori, live in Rome City and have five children (Jennifer, Ryan, Elise, Justin and Nicholas) and 15 grandchildren. He and his wife are members of the South Milford Church of Christ.

House Bill 1001 would allow Gov. STATEHOUSE (May 12, 2021) – Gov. Eric Holcomb recently signed legislation authored by State Rep. Craig Snow (R-Warsaw) to protect Indiana's grain farmers from catastrophic financial losses when licensed grain buyers fail.
The Indiana Grain Indemnity Fund protects Hoosier grain farmers from catastrophic financial losses when state-licensed grain buyers, grain banks or warehouses fail. Snow said grain farmers typically store their harvests in these licensed warehouses and enter deferred pricing agreements with buyers to determine a selling price at a later date. In the event of a warehouse failure, the fund covers 100% of contracted stored grain and 80% of other grain transactions for up to 15 months prior to the date of failure. The fund is supported by farmers who pay a 0.2% premium on the gross value of all grain marketed to licensed grain buyers in Indiana.

Each year, the Indiana House of Representatives participates in the Suits and Sneakers challenge, an annual event sponsored by the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches.
