I am honored to represent House District 5, which includes portions of St. Joseph County. Northern Indiana is a wonderful place to live, work and raise a family. I consider it my responsibility to closely examine the issues that matter most to Hoosiers as we work on moving Indiana forward.

State Rep. Dale DeVon was elected to the Indiana General Assembly in November 2012. He was born and raised in Clay Township and has lived in Granger since 1989.
In the 1980s, DeVon began his first business as a contractor, and in 1995, he started DeVon Custom Homes, a business he still operates today. In 1997, he was named national director for the Home Builders Association.
DeVon still serves as the state and national director of the Home Builders Association. In 2002, DeVon was elected to St. Joseph County Council District where he served as chairman of the Land Use Committee.
DeVon's passion is helping youth. He was the senior high youth group leader at New Life Christian Fellowship and he continues to meet with youth at the Juvenile Justice Center. He is also on the school board for The Crossing, a school for at-risk youth.
DeVon married his wife, Christine, in 1978. They have three children and seven grandchildren.

STATEHOUSE (Jan. 8, 2021) – The House Ways and Means Committee on Wednesday voted unanimously in support of a legislative proposal co-authored by State Reps. Dale DeVon (R-Granger) and Jake Teshka (R-South Bend) to fully fund all K-12 public school students for the 2020-21 school year due to COVID-19.

STATEHOUSE (Sept. 4, 2020) – State Reps. Dale DeVon (R-Granger) and Tim Wesco (R-Osceola) encourage local college students and recent graduates looking to gain valuable work experience to apply online for a paid internship with the Indiana House of Representatives at the Statehouse in Indianapolis.
Before the start of each legislative session, House Republicans hire interns to help legislators and staff with the increased workload. Positions are open to sophomores, juniors, and seniors, as well as recent college graduates, and law school and graduate students.
"Internships are key to building resumes and gaining professional experience employers are looking for," DeVon said. "House Republican interns are a part a team, and they do real work to enhance their skill sets."

STATEHOUSE (Jan. 28, 2020) – The Indiana House of Representatives Tuesday voted in support of State Rep. Dale DeVon's (R-Granger) bill that would help new teachers recognize and properly respond to signs of trauma in children.
According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Child Maltreatment Report, there were 25,731 child abuse victims in Indiana in 2018. DeVon said young victims of trauma may experience social, emotional and academic setbacks. His legislation would add trauma response and recognition education to the training new educators must receive in order to qualify for their first teaching license.
