Violent crime has increased in Marion County and across Central Indiana. It's almost daily that we learn of another family, business, or community devastated by senseless acts. In 2020, Indianapolis recorded nearly 250 homicides, at a time when our state was working hard to bounce back from the COVID-19 pandemic. We can do better. More collaboration and communication between Central Indiana counties are required to eradicate the plague of violence in our community.
STATEHOUSE (Feb. 25, 2021) – Gov. Eric Holcomb recently signed legislation into law supported by House Speaker Todd Huston (R-Fishers), and State Reps. Chris Jeter (R-Fishers) and Jerry Torr (R-Carmel) to provide COVID-19 liability protections to businesses, organizations and individuals.
STATEHOUSE (Feb. 18, 2021) – The Indiana House of Representatives voted to advance legislation that would make health care more accessible by expanding telehealth options, according to State Rep. Chris Jeter (R-Fishers).
Hoosiers use their cell phones and laptops to work, pay bills and connect with friends and loved ones. They are also finding themselves using this technology more and more to receive care from their doctor. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, telehealth became a more common way to continue serving patients while also mitigating the spread of the virus. To make this possible, Indiana took steps to cut red tape and allow providers to see patients virtually for certain conditions. Legislation I am supporting this session would work to make some of those temporary changes we saw last spring permeant, and would even expand them to include more health care professionals.

Each year, dedicated men and women choose to serve and protect our State by joining one of our many outstanding law enforcement agencies. Often, these public servants put on their uniform and have no idea what their next shift could entail. From responding to a dangerous situation, to providing first aid before medics arrive, our local law enforcement officers serve as part of the fabric of our community and they deserve the critical resources they need to protect Hoosiers. I also believe in working with our public safety officials to increase accountability and transparency for all departments.
