State Rep. Brad Barrett graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a degree in professional studies before attending The Ohio State University’s College of Medicine. He is a retired general surgeon, previously serving Wayne County for over 25 years. Barrett is a former president of General Surgeons, Inc. and currently serves as President-elect of the Indiana Chapter of the American College of Surgeons.
Barrett’s involvement in the community includes serving on the board of directors for the Reid Health Foundation, as well as the Indiana State Medical Association Commission on Legislation. He continues to serve on the Boys and Girls Club of Wayne County Board and supports Girls Inc., Circle U and United Way.
Barrett and his wife, Mary Ann, live in Richmond and have two children, Erin and Drew.
House District 56 consists of a large portion of Wayne County in Eastern Indiana.

STATEHOUSE (Aug. 16, 2018) — Wayne County family farms were recognized Friday at the Indiana State Fair for being in operation for 100 years or more, according to State Rep. Dick Hamm (R-Richmond) and State Sen. Jeff Raatz (R-Richmond).
STATEHOUSE (June 25, 2018) — Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch presented a Golden Hoosier Award to Sandra Rans Rowe of Centerville at the Statehouse Thursday for her service and commitment to the community, according to State Rep. Dick Hamm (R-Richmond) and State Sen. Jeff Raatz (R-Richmond).

STATEHOUSE (July 13, 2017) – “Under the Next Level Roads Plan, Wayne County will receive more than $62 million in the next five years that will be dedicated to local infrastructure projects. These funds will help pay for road and bridge improvements in our communities while increasing convenience and safety for Hoosiers. This funding was made possible through legislation passed during the 2017 legislative session.”
