Indiana is consistently ranked as a top state for tax climate. We've cut taxes for our residents every year over the last decade. In Indiana, we have low debt, balanced budgets, a AAA credit rating and a growing economy. Since 2020, our GDP has grown at a faster rate than any of our neighboring states and the national average, including three and a half times the rate of Illinois.
Although Indiana has many high rankings in numerous categories, some of the key ones include:
Best state to start a business in
Best place to live
Top state for tax climate
Leading state for economic outlook
The 2025 legislative session continued to power Indiana's positive economic rankings through a new two-year balanced budget that sustains our low-cost, low-tax climate while providing more transparency for Hoosiers across the state. House Republicans have always been committed to establishing Indiana as an economic powerhouse within the Midwest, and the country more broadly. This is evident through legislation like Senate Enrolled Act 1 which provides property tax relief to Hoosier homeowners and long-term reforms, and through Senate Enrolled Act 516 that creates the Office of Entrepreneurship and Innovation to drive small business and technology growth across Indiana by coordinating state resources and promoting access to capital and technical support for rural and underserved communities.
