Remembering Indiana's Fallen

On Memorial Day, we remember by name the men and women who laid down their lives, paying the ultimate sacrifice in defense of this nation.

Many of those men and women were Hoosiers who answered the call and gave everything for this country. These Hoosiers came from Indiana's farms, small towns and cities; leaving behind families, friends and opportunities to wear the uniform of the United States Armed Forces. They stood on the frontlines of this nation's defining conflicts, giving their lives to defend the ideals of our great Union.

Take time this Memorial Day to honor those names. The National Moment of Remembrance is an annual event that asks all Americans to pause wherever they are at 3 p.m. local time on Memorial Day for one minute to remember those who have died in military service to the United States.

This session, the General Assembly passed a new law strengthening support for military families facing financial hardship by modernizing the Military Family Relief Fund to ensure vital resources are available to veterans and their families who need the most help. Whether you’re attending a local event, visiting a veterans’ cemetery to lay flowers or simply spending time with family, take time to honor the men and women who died in the line of duty. Hoosiers, please join us in remembering our fallen service members and their families this Memorial Day weekend.
