Hoosier lawmakers recently gathered at the Indiana Statehouse for Organization Day, which serves as the ceremonial start of the legislative session. Organization Day is an opportunity for policymakers to join together, discuss issues facing the state and their communities and prepare for the upcoming session.
House Speaker Todd Huston (R-Fishers) highlighted Indiana's economic growth, tax relief, energy initiatives, housing support and the path forward for thriving communities.
In his address to the members of the Indiana House of Representatives, Huston noted Indiana’s strong economic momentum, including that the state continues to attract new residents and outperform neighboring states in GDP growth. He emphasized ongoing efforts to reduce taxes for Hoosiers, including property tax relief, and underscored the importance of affordability and community growth. The Speaker also addressed energy policy, outlining measures to modernize the grid and lower costs for residents, as well as initiatives to increase housing supply and support young families in achieving homeownership. Huston called for collaboration between state and local leaders to sustain economic growth, strengthen communities, and ensure Indiana remains a place where families can thrive for generations.
