March is National Agriculture Month, a time to recognize the hard work and dedication of our local farms and agribusinesses.
As the ninth largest farming state, agriculture is estimated to contribute over $35 billion to Indiana's economy. With more than 90% of Hoosier farms family-owned or operated, House Republicans worked this year to further support these entrepreneurs. House Enrolled Act 1424, a new law passed this session, prevents over-regulation on Hoosier farmers and local vendors, giving them more freedom to sell their products and expanding access to affordable, homegrown food.
This law makes Indiana a national leader in the food freedom space, giving local producers more room to grow their operations, reinvest in their communities and expand the state's food economy.
Hoosiers interested in shopping for local food and other products made in the state can visit Indiana Grown, a network of farmers and producers helping connect consumers like you to Hoosier-made products. Interested food producers and crafters can also register to become an Indiana Grown member to sell their goods.
Another option for buying and selling homegrown food is Market Wagon, an online delivery service where you can connect with local food vendors and artisans, and purchases can be delivered directly to you or a specified Market Host. No membership or minimum purchase is required. You can also search for farmers markets near you by county or region at LocalFarmMarkets.org.

Thank you to our Hoosier farmers and their families for all they do. They are truly the backbone of Indiana's economy, feeding our state and the world.
