Announcing Summer Study Committees

Earlier this month, members of the Indiana House of Representatives received their appointments to interim study committees, which will meet throughout the summer and fall to explore policy issues.

Legislators will meet to research top issues affecting Hoosiers and work together to identify solutions. Committee members have the opportunity to hear from stakeholders and experts alike, who can inform potential legislation ahead of next year's legislative session starting in January.

These committees allow lawmakers to take a deeper look at complex policy issues outside of the time constraints of the regular session. By working through difficult topics in the interim, legislators can hit them ground running when the next session begins.

Overall, interim study committees strengthen the legislative process by improving the quality, transparency and effectiveness of policymaking.

This summer's committees will be looking at maternal health care, how artificial intelligence could be used to streamline state government, youth water safety and more.
