As the 2026 legislative session approaches, the Indiana House of Representatives Republican Internship Program is accepting interested applicants for a unique opportunity to gain practical knowledge of state government through active participation in the legislative process.
Internships are open to college sophomores, juniors and seniors, graduate students, and recent graduates of all majors, and no prior political or government experience is required. These positions are full time and run from January through mid-March. In addition to getting a bi-weekly compensation of $900, participants can also earn college credit for their work and compete for a $3,000 scholarship.
Interns will work in the Statehouse in downtown Indianapolis full time Monday through Friday during the legislative session, which starts in January and ends in March. Positions are available in legislative operations, policy and communications.
Interns will be paired with a staff member to work directly with an assigned group of state representatives. During this spring semester internship, students will have opportunities to interact with state legislators, state agencies and private sector organizations, as well as participate in a weekly speaker series featuring Indiana civic leaders.
Applications are available online at indianahouserepublicans.com/internship and are due by Oct. 31.
