STATEHOUSE (Dec. 16, 2016) — State Rep. Cindy Ziemke (R-Batesville) was recently selected to serve as vice chair of the House Committee on Family, Children and Human Affairs.
“Legislative committees meet to gather public testimony, hear from recognized experts and collaborate with other lawmakers to work out the details of proposed legislation,” Ziemke said. “Many Hoosier families across the state, including in southeast Indiana, have felt the devastating effects of the opioid and heroin epidemic. This session, I’ll continue to support expansion of substance abuse treatment options in Indiana, so individuals who suffer from drug addiction can get the help they need.”
Standing committee assignments are made biennially after each election. On Jan. 4, House lawmakers will convene at 1:30 p.m. in the House Chamber for the first day of the 2017 legislative session.
