Marlene Fudge recognized for service to the community

STATEHOUSE (June 22, 2018) — Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch presented a Golden Hoosier Award to Marlene Fudge of Rushville at the Statehouse Thursday for her service and commitment to the community, according to State Sen. Jean Leising (R-Oldenburg) and State Rep. Cindy Ziemke (R-Batesville).

“Marlene has spent an incredible number of years serving others throughout our community,” Leising said. “Rushville has benefited immensely from all of her work. Congratulations, Marlene! You are more than deserving of this award.”

Fudge has over 40 years of experience serving her community, and has been an active contributor to the Big Brothers Big Sisters program, Noble Niters Home Economics Club and New Salem United Methodist Church. She has been a member of Big Brothers Big Sisters for over 25 years, serving as a lunch buddy, a big sister, treasurer and fundraiser. A lifelong volunteer at her church, Marlene has also played piano for the congregation since she was 16 years old.

“Whatever the organization, Marlene is always a very active member,” Ziemke said. “She generously provides her time and talent to multiple nonprofits throughout our community and continues to be a role model to many. She is a remarkable citizen and I congratulate and thank her for her many years of service to her fellow Hoosiers.”

The lieutenant governor’s office accepts nominations each year for the Golden Hoosier Awards. The award recognizes outstanding Indiana residents for their lifetime of service to their communities, and is the highest honor bestowed on those in Indiana who are at least 65 years old.
