STATEHOUSE (June 23, 2016) — State Rep. Denny Zent (R-Angola) will be serving as chair of the Interim Study Committee on Public Safety and Military Affairs.
In preparation for the 2017 legislative session, which begins in January, interim study committee members meet to examine assigned topics, gather testimonies and identify potential legislation.
“As chair of the Interim Study Committee on Public Safety and Military Affairs, I will be leading discussions with fellow members about the military relief fund and district veteran service officers,” Zent said. “I served in the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force, so I will continue to use my military experience to help lead discussions on how we can better serve those who bravely protect us.”
Zent said interim study committee hearings, which typically occur at the Statehouse in Indianapolis, can be viewed live online at iga.in.gov. This site also provides committee calendars and meeting agendas. Members of the public are also welcomed to attend.
Zent will also be serving on the Interim Study Committee on Public Health, Behavioral Health and Human Services. He said this panel will look at heroin use, including treatment options and recovery efforts in Indiana.
Zent will also serve on the Indiana Veterans’ Affairs Commission.
State Rep. Denny Zent (R-Angola) represents most of LaGrange and Steuben counties.
