STATEHOUSE (March 28, 2016) — State Rep. Denny Zent (R-Angola) congratulates the Talmage families from LaGrange County for their designation as Hoosier Homestead award recipients for 150 years of family farm ownership.
“Committing to maintaining a family farm for more than 150 years is truly admirable,” Zent said. “The Talmage families have contributed greatly to our community’s economy, and I congratulate them on this designation.”
The Hoosier Homestead Award Program recognizes farms that have been owned and maintained by the same family for 100 years or more. The Talmage Farms have been in operation since 1836 and 1837.
Two awards ceremonies are held each year, in the spring and summer, to commemorate the achievements of farmers across the state. For more information on the Hoosier Homestead Award Program, visit www.in.gov/isda/2337.htm.
Rep. Zent (R-Angola) represents most of LaGrange and Steuben counties.
