STATEHOUSE (Jan. 10, 2017) — Indiana University alumnus John Young (R-Franklin), recently took the oath of office, officially becoming the state representative for Indiana House District 47.

Young was sworn in by Indiana Supreme Court Chief Justice Loretta H. Rush in the Indiana House Chamber.

“This is a rewarding opportunity, getting to represent the people of Johnson and Morgan counties,” Young said. “The lessons I learned at Indiana University have helped me become a successful attorney. Now I will be able to bring that valuable experience to the Indiana General Assembly to help make effective policy decisions.”

Young graduated from Indian Creek High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Indiana University and his Juris Doctor from Southern Illinois University.

Young will serve on the House Judiciary Committee, the House Committee on Government and Regulatory Reform, the House Committee on Courts and Criminal Code and the House Statutory Committee on Interstate and International Cooperation.
