Note to the Press: Please include the following statements from local legislators on the recent announcement of $45 million from the Regional Economic Acceleration and Development Initiative, or READI 2.0, awarded to Southwest Indiana. The Indiana General Assembly supported the funding in the state's two-year budget during the 2023 legislative session. Indiana's $500 million total investment in this round of funding is expected to yield nearly $11 billion in overall investments from public and private sources to increase the vibrancy and prosperity of Hoosier communities.
STATEHOUSE (April 12, 2024) – "The READI program has proven to be an effective way for local communities to partner up and spur economic development and job growth in their region. I applaud the state and local leaders who worked hard to ensure our region continues to be a top competitor when it comes to attracting people and opportunities," said State Rep. Tim O'Brien (R-Evansville), a member of House Ways and Means.
"It's exciting to see Southwest Indiana land the maximum award amount. We're keeping our foot on the gas to attract talent, improve quality of place and build on our thriving business environment, and it's paying off. This level of investment has the power to be transformational for Southwest Indiana and our vision for the future," said State Rep. Wendy McNamara (R-Evansville).
