STATEHOUSE – State Representative Matt Ubelhor (R-Bloomfield) congratulates Myles Adams from Monroe County for receiving the 2013 Comcast Leaders & Achievers Scholarship today. The award recognizes high school seniors for their outstanding leadership skills, high academic performance and participation in community service projects.
“Myles serves as a great role model to his peers at Bloomington High School North,” said Rep. Ubelhor. “I am proud of him for receiving this award that acknowledges all of the great work he’s done in giving back to his community.”
Beginning annually in 2000, Comcast reaches out to high school guidance counselors and principals to recognize the brightest seniors as the nation’s “leaders and achievers.” The award recipients were nominated for their extensive involvement in their schools and participation in various service projects that positively impact their communities.
Since 2001, Comcast has awarded approximately $19 million in scholarship funds to more than 19,000 students across the nation. Adams, who attends Bloomington High School North in Southeast Indiana, was one of 49 Hoosier students to receive the $1,000 award. During a special prize drawing, Adams also received a notebook computer to help with college classes.
“Myles has done his community a great service over the years and his achievements inside and outside of the classroom speak to his character,” said Rep. Ubelhor. “I know Myles will carry on his dedication to his community for many years to come and continue to being a wonderful example to those around him.”
The award was presented by First Lady Karen Pence at the Indiana Statehouse.
