Student pages join Rep. Saunders at the Statehouse

STATEHOUSE (May 20, 2019) – State Rep. Tom Saunders (R-Lewisville) recently welcomed local student pages to the Statehouse.

As House pages, these students toured the governor’s office, the House and Senate chambers, and the Indiana Supreme Court. They also helped staff with their daily tasks and met with Saunders to learn more about the legislative process:

  • Silas Alton, from New Castle, attends Tri Junior-Senior High School;
  • Garrett Barnes, from Shirley, attends Shenandoah High School;
  • Wyatt Barrett, from New Castle, attends New Castle Middle School;
  • Adalynn Bowman, from New Castle, attends Westwood Elementary School;
  • Alaina Bowman, from New Castle, attends New Castle Middle School;
  • Shay Doerstler, from Greens Fork, attends Hagerstown Jr./Sr. High School;
  • Baylee Foor, from Hagerstown, attends Hagerstown Jr./Sr. High School;
  • Alexandra LaMar, from New Castle, attends Blue River Valley Jr./Sr. High School;
  • Nik McNew, from Richmond, attends Hagerstown Jr./Sr. High School; and
  • Lacy Pritchett, from Knightstown, attends Knightstown Intermediate School;
  • Nora Slaven, from Hagerstown, attends the Indiana Academy.
  • Gus Upchurch, from New Castle, attends New Castle Middle School; and
  • Becca Waggoner, from Knightstown, attends Knightstown Intermediate School.

“Welcoming pages from our district to the Statehouse is such an enjoyable experience,” Saunders said. “I enjoy getting to know all the visiting students from our community as they learn more about their state government.”

Students between the ages of 13 to 18 who are interested in paging during the 2020 session can learn more at www.indianahouserepublicans.com/pageprogram. Participants receive an excused absence from school and groups can request to page together.
