STATEHOUSE (March 7, 2016) — After serving House District 47 for four years, State Rep. John Price (R-Bargersville) is retiring from the Indiana General Assembly. Today, fellow House Republicans honored Price for his years of service and commitment to improving the lives of those in Johnson and Morgan counties.

“I am so grateful for the people of District 47 and the opportunity they have given me to be their voice at the Statehouse,” Price said. “The past four years have been an honor and an invaluable learning experience.”

During his time in the House of Representatives, Price served as Chair of the Local Government Committee and as a member of the Financial Institutions Committee, Veterans Affairs Committee and Public Safety Committee.

“John has been a tremendous asset to our caucus as he provides pragmatic and level-headed insight while keeping the needs of his district at the forefront of his decisions,” House Speaker Brian C. Bosma (R-Indianapolis) said. “His many years in local government and law enforcement have provided House Republicans with strong guidance on many issues and I want to thank him for his leadership. I wish him, Mary, their children and grandchildren all the best.”

Prior to representing House District 47 in the Indiana House of Representatives, Price served in the United States Army for six years as a staff sergeant. He was a chief deputy with the Johnson County sheriff’s office, a deputy coroner, SWAT team leader, a helicopter pilot and a member of the scuba team.

Price worked for Johnson County as the Director of Highway and Engineering and Fleet Management. He also served as chair of the Board of Commissioners, and as a member of the Johnson County Council, a member of the White River Advisor Board and as the chair of the Johnson County Republican Party.

“After more than 40 years in public service, I will greatly miss representing the people of Johnson and Morgan Counties,” Price said. “I will miss my colleagues here at the Statehouse, but I am looking forward to spending more time with my wife, Mary, our four children and three grandchildren.”
