STATEHOUSE (July 31, 2020) – Shelby Funeral Home recently received the Governor’s Century Business Award recognizing its longstanding service in the community, according to State Reps. Alan Morrison (R-Brazil) and Sharon Negele (R-Attica).
Morrison said Shelby Funeral Home has been in continuous operation for 141 years in Covington.
"The families who have owned and operated Shelby Funeral Home for well over a century are an important part of Covington and Fountain County," Morrison said. "It's a remarkable achievement to sustain a business for that long through multiple generations, and this milestone is worthy of recognition."
Negele said the 76 Indiana companies and organizations honored with the Governor’s Century or Half Century Business awards will be invited to participate in the 2021 ceremony, with this year's spring ceremony canceled due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
"The Shelby Funeral Home has been essential to our community for well over a century," Negele said. "The care and professionalism they show to families during a difficult time of loss doesn't go unnoticed and is appreciated by so many."
More than 1,560 Hoosier businesses have been recognized during award's 29-year history.
