STATEHOUSE (Dec. 10, 2018) – State Rep. Mike Speedy (R-Indianapolis) was recently reappointed to serve as vice chair the House Roads and Transportation Committee.

Speedy was also reappointed to serve on the House Financial Institutions Committee, and the House Utilities, Energy and Telecommunications Committee.

"Committees play an integral role in the legislative process,” Speedy said. “Hoosiers can come to the Statehouse and share how potential new laws could impact their lives, and provide input on how a bill can be improved. Throughout session, I encourage anyone interested in a particular piece of legislation to follow the process online, and attend a committee hearing in person.”

Standing committee assignments are made biennially after each election. On Jan. 3, House lawmakers will convene at 1:30 p.m. in the House Chamber for the first day of the 2019 legislative session.

Committee hearings, which typically occur at the Statehouse in Indianapolis, can be viewed live online at iga.in.gov. This site also provides committee calendars and meeting agendas. Speedy said members of the public are welcome to attend any committee meeting and testify on bills being heard.
