STATEHOUSE (Jan. 18, 2018) — State Rep. Mike Speedy (R-Indianapolis) recognized Bunker Hill Elementary School at the Statehouse Thursday with a resolution celebrating its centennial anniversary.
“Bunker Hill is a community centered school with a great history of teaching and applying our community’s values,” Speedy said. “We have dedicated educators and involved parents who ensure our students are successful in life, inside and outside the classroom. Bunker Hill positively impacts our community with outreach projects, and I look forward to the next 100 years of accomplishments from them.”
Speedy said over the years, Bunker Hill Elementary students have collected shoes to pay for water wells in other countries, sponsored a school in Texas to aid in hurricane relief and celebrated the school’s centennial anniversary with 100 acts of kindness.
For more than 50 years, Bunker Hill hosted an annual fish fry event, raising money and crowning a fish fry king and queen. On April 27, the fish fry will be revived to celebrate the 100-year anniversary and will recognize former fish fry kings and queens, and crown new fish fry royalty among current students.
State Rep. Mike Speedy (R-Indianapolis) represents House District 90, serving portions of Marion County.
