STATEHOUSE (Feb. 15, 2016) – State Rep. Tom Saunders (R-Lewisville) held the Indiana House’s annual bake sale and silent auction to raise funds for cancer research today at the Statehouse.
Members, spouses and staff of the House brought in baked goods to sell and historical items to auction off for the event. All proceeds from the fundraiser went to the American Cancer Society.
“Everyone knows somebody who has battled cancer and it is our duty to find a cure for this deadly disease,” Saunders said. “I was so happy to see many of my colleagues come out and show their support to make this event a successful one.”
The fundraiser was started in 2011 after two members of the Indiana House of Representatives’ staff were diagnosed with cancer. Both women eventually won their fights with the disease and have been cancer free for five years.
Rep. Saunders (R-Lewisville) represents Henry County and portions of Rush and Wayne counties.
