STATEHOUSE (March 28, 2016) — State Rep. Cindy Ziemke (R-Batesville) congratulates local farm families for their designation as Hoosier Homestead award recipients.

“These families play a crucial role in shaping Indiana’s rich agricultural history,” Ziemke said. “As we continue to move Indiana forward, it is important that we recognize the achievements of Hoosier farmers who have greatly contributed to Indiana agriculture and our economy.”

The Hoosier Homestead Award Program recognizes farms that have been owned and maintained by the same family for 100 years or more.

The following list includes the family farms that received Hoosier Homestead awards:

  • The Fletcher Farm, located in Decatur County, has been in operation since 1914 and received the centennial award;
  • The Fischmer Farm, located in Decatur County, has been in operation since 1887 and received the centennial award;
  • The Francis M. and Hugh H. Scott Farm, located in Fayette County, has been in operation since 1861 and received the sesquicentennial award; and
  • The Narwold Farm, located in Ripley County, has been in operation since 1866 and received the sesquicentennial award.

Two awards ceremonies are held each year, in the spring and summer, to commemorate the achievements of farmers across the state. For more information on the Hoosier Homestead Award Program, visit www.in.gov/isda/2337.htm.
