“It is a great opportunity to be part of a study committee,” said Rep. Ubelhor. “My colleagues and I will have the chance to take a closer look at what issues are facing Hoosiers and closely examine the topics that will come up during our next legislative session.”
Interim committees are an integral part of the legislative process. Even though session is adjourned for 2012, legislators will be continuing their duties by conducting in-depth studies of various topics assigned to their committees. Interim committees with specific expertise receive public testimony and work out the details of proposed legislation before it is introduced in the 2013 session.
“The interim period is a great time for us to closely examine issues that face our Hoosiers every day,” said Rep. Ubelhor. “I am ready to tackle these topics head-on and begin preparation for the issues that will arise during our next legislative session.”
Most interim committees will begin meeting in July with their work concluding toward the end of October.
Rep. Ubelhor represents parts of Greene, Martin, Lawrence and Orange Counties.
