STATEHOUSE— House Speaker Brian C. Bosma (R-Indianapolis) announced committee assignments and leadership appointments for the Indiana House Republican Caucus. State Rep. Jerry Torr (R-Carmel) was appointed to six different House committees, including one chairmanship and one vice chairmanship. Committee chairmen and caucus leaders are selected biennially by the majority party after each election year.
“I am confident in the abilities of each of these leaders, and I know that they are each eager to begin their committee work and their leadership roles,” said Speaker Bosma.
Rep. Torr was appointed to serve on the following committees:
“It is an honor to serve in a leadership role on these committees, and I am confident of what we can accomplish in the upcoming session,” said Rep. Torr. “There will be important issues brought before the committees – issues that affect Hoosiers every day, and I am prepared to closely examine those issues and complete the work necessary to make improvements.”
Standing committees are an integral part of the legislative process. Committees with specific expertise receive public testimony and work out the details of proposed legislation before it is heard on the House floor.
