Rep. Tony Cook weighs in on announcement to cancel state mandated assessments, close schools until May 1

Note to the press: Please include the following statement from State Rep. Tony Cook (R-Cicero), vice chair of the House Education Committee, in your coverage of Gov. Eric Holcomb’s announcement Thursday to cancel all state mandated assessments for the 2019-2020 school year and close schools until May 1:

STATEHOUSE (March 19, 2020) – "The governor's decision to close schools until May 1 and cancel standardized exams across the state is the right course of action to protect the health and wellness of our students and families. I am encouraged by the steps the state has taken to try to slow the spread and flatten the curve of COVID-19."


State Rep. Tony Cook (R-Cicero) represents House District 32, which includes all of Tipton County and portions of Hamilton, Madison, Delaware, Howard and Grant counties.
