STATEHOUSE (March 1, 2018) — State Rep. Tom Saunders (R-Lewisville) recently led efforts to raise more than $4,000 for cancer research during the Indiana House of Representatives’ seventh annual bake sale and silent auction.

Members, members’ spouses and staff of the House brought in baked goods to sell and historical items to auction off for the event. Some of the items included a 9/11 Through This Storm commemorative painting and an original picture of President Ronald Reagan at the Indiana Statehouse. All proceeds from the fundraiser went to the American Cancer Society.

“This event brings members of the Statehouse together for a great cause,” Saunders said. “Cancer is a terrible disease, and it has affected many across our state and country, including a few people from our Statehouse family. It was incredible to see the amount of contributions and donations we received that will go toward finding a cure.”

The fundraiser was started in 2011 after two members of the Indiana House of Representatives’ staff were diagnosed with cancer. Both women eventually won their fights with the disease and have been cancer free for seven years.

State Rep. Tom Saunders (R-Lewsiville) represents House District 54, which

includes Henry County and portions of Rush and Wayne counties.
