STATEHOUSE- House Speaker Brian C. Bosma (R-Indianapolis) announced standing committee assignments today for the 119th General Assembly. Standing committee assignments are made biennially after each election.
State Representative Cindy Kirchhofer (R-Beech Grove) has been appointed Vice Chairwoman of the Public Health Committee. She has also been selected to serve as a member of the Courts and Criminal Code Committee and the Government and Regulatory Reform Committee.
“I am honored to be appointed to serve on these important committees,” said Rep. Kirchhofer. “I believe my background as a risk manager with Franciscan Alliance will be a great asset in my new role as Vice Chairwoman of Public Health. With public safety as a major focus of the 2015 legislative agenda, I am confident we will find meaningful solutions to Indiana’s pressing public health concerns.”
Standing committees are an integral part of the legislative process. Committees with specific expertise receive public testimony and work out the details of proposed legislation before it is heard on the House floor.
“I am confident in the abilities of each of these leaders, and I know they are all eager to begin their work,” said Speaker Bosma.
The 2015 legislative session begins on Tuesday, Jan. 6, at 1:30 pm.
