STATEHOUSE - Rep. Doug Gutwein (R-Francesville)today announced that Rensselaer qualifies for an estimated $1.5 million grant from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 through the Indiana Finance Authority to complete improvements to Rensselaer's wastewater system. This is one of the state's first stimulus water projects to be announced.
"Last month's storm damage caused a lot of trouble in Northern Indiana," said Rep. Gutwein. "The proposed stimulus funds will be needed to repair and improve Rensselaer's wastewater system without burdening Hoosiers. The funds will also create Indiana jobs during these tough economic times as the repairs and upgrades takes place."
The recovery act will distribute approximately $125 million to the Indiana State Revolving Fund, an existing program managed by the Indiana Finance Authority that makes loans to communities for wastewater and drinking water projects.
