(STATEHOUSE) Jan. 14, 2008 - In response to last week's floods, the Remington Disaster Relief Operation has been planned for 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 18, near Wal-Mart and Wilco County Market in Rensselaer.
WRIN (1560 AM) is working together with sister stations WLQI Radio (97.7 FM) and WIBN (98.1 FM) to sponsor the relief drive. State Rep. Eric A. Gutwein (R-Rensselaer) will participate in the event from 2 to 3 p.m.
"There are many families that have lost everything as a result of the floods," said Rep. Gutwein. "Those that weren't affected by the floods are able to contribute to the relief by donating their time and resources. I am hoping that by being a part of this relief operation, I will be able to listen and answer any questions that people have."
The Remington Disaster Relief Operation is collecting food, furniture, cars, clothing, cat and dog food, toys, backpacks, games and other necessities families can use for day-to-day life. Donations of money are welcome as well. Checks should be made out to Remington Disaster Relief Fund.
The Heritage Bible Church in Remington will handle distribution of the supplies and donations.
During the drive, WRIN will announce information about the relief. In addition, Rep. Gutwein and Sen. Brandt Hershman (R-Monticello) will be available to talk to people and answer questions.
Rep. Gutwein encourages constituents to contact him with questions or concerns through e-mail at email@example.com, or by calling the Statehouse toll-free at 1-800-382-9841. It is also possible to write him at 200 W. Washington St, Indianapolis, IN 46204.
