STATEHOUSE — House Speaker Brian C. Bosma (R-Indianapolis) has announced the interim study committee assignments for the Indiana House of Representatives. State Rep. Bob Cherry (R-Greenfield) has been selected to serve on three study committees.
“I am honored to be appointed to all three of these committees,” said Rep. Cherry. “I look forward to working with my fellow legislators, especially on the Interim Study Committee on Fiscal Policy. There are several important issues assigned to this committee that are vital to our state.”
Once the legislative session has ended, the Legislative Council discusses and assigns topics for committees to study throughout the interim. Most interim committees will meet from July through October. Interim study committees with a specific focus are similar to committees during session. Members from the public and experts give testimony on each topic assigned to the committee.
In addition to the Interim Study committee on Fiscal Policy, Rep. Cherry will serve on the Interim Study Committee on Government, and was appointed as vice chair of the State Fair Advisory Committee. He was also selected as an alternate to the Budget Committee.
“Interim study committees give legislators the opportunity to build on the progress made during the previous legislative session while laying the groundwork for next year,” said Indiana House Speaker Brian C. Bosma (R-Indianapolis). “These committees are an integral part of the legislative process and allow us more time to properly vet the issues which matter most to Hoosiers.”
