STATEHOUSE — “As Vice Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee, much of my time this session has been devoted to crafting our state’s biennial budget. Our budget protects Hoosier taxpayers, funds education at unprecedented levels, enhances public safety and maintains the stable fiscal environment, which is important to growing the economy.
“Education continues to be our state’s top priority. We have increased funding by $469 million over the biennium, which means that over $16 billion will be used to educate young Hoosiers. We have also doubled funding for domestic violence prevention. By maintaining healthy reserves while remaining committed to fiscal integrity, we can ensure the continued economic success of our state.”
State Rep. Bob Cherry (R-Greenfield) represents portions of Hancock and Madison counties. He serves as Vice Chairman of Ways and Means. He also serves on the Local Government Committee and Rules and Legislative Procedures Committee.
