(STATEHOUSE) Dec. 12, 2008 - State Rep. Randy Borror (R-Fort Wayne) was assigned to the committees on Ways and Means and Veterans Affairs and Public Safety by Republican Leader Brian C. Bosma.  Borror will serve on these committees for the next two years since assignments are made biannually.

"As a member of the Ways and Means Committee, I pledge to continue working diligently towards a balanced budget with no tax increases," said Rep. Borror. "State government has to live within its means. We have to stop excess government spending and not exceed the anticipated state income."

Standing committees are an integral part of the legislative process in the House of Representatives. Legislation will get assigned, at the Speaker's discretion, to the committee it most pertains to. Committees will then work out the details of the proposed legislation before it is heard on the House floor.  A wide variety of legislation will be heard in committee during the upcoming session.

The upcoming 2009 legislative session runs from Jan. 7 to April 29.  For questions or comments regarding this session, Rep. Borror can be reached at h84@IN.gov, or call his office at 1-800-382-9841.
