Bowhay Institute is a program that assists in the development of newer legislators

(STATEHOUSE) April 15, 2008 - Rep. Matt Bell (R- Avilla) has been appointed to the Steering Committee for the Bowhay Institute for Legislative Leadership Development. The committee will choose Midwestern legislators to participate in the 2008 leadership development program.

"I am honored to have been chosen to select the 2008 BILLD participants," said Rep. Bell. "As an alumnus of this program, I understand what an excellent opportunity this is for newer lawmakers to develop strong leadership and legislative skills."

The BILLD program is designed to help newer legislators develop the skills necessary to become effective leaders, informed decision-makers and astute policy analysts. Selected lawmakers will have the opportunity to participate in leadership training, educational and professional seminars and explore legislative issues with experts, leaders and colleagues from across the region.

The BILLD program is conducted by the Council of State Government's Midwestern Office, in cooperation with the Robert M. LaFollette School of Public Affairs at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The program takes place each summer on the university's campus in Madison.
