Note to the Press: Please include the following statement from State Rep. David Abbott (R-Rome City) in your coverage of Gov. Eric Holcomb’s announcement of $22.1 million in funding for broadband expansion projects across the state. This funding will provide broadband infrastructure to 83 unserved households and 12 unserved businesses in Noble County as part of the Next Level Broadband program. Abbott supported the state’s budget, which allows funds to be used for awarding broadband grants to rural areas:
STATEHOUSE (Aug. 8, 2019) – “It’s encouraging to see broadband infrastructure funding be directed to Noble County. I’m also pleased to see LigTel Communications take advantage of this grant opportunity so the unserved residents and businesses of the Brimfield and Merriam communities may utilize this vital resource.”
This project will serve 83 unserved households and 12 unserved businesses in the rural towns of Brimfield and Merriam in Noble County. The requested grant amount is almost $442,000 with a local match of more than $117,000 for a total project cost of nearly $559,000.
