STATEHOUSE- Rep. Speedy’s veterans language, which was added to Senate Enrolled Act 180 (SEA), has been signed into law by Governor Pence. SEA 180 deals with various veterans matters including an Indiana State Department of Health Study and a Veterans Disability Clinic Fund.
Rep. Speedy authored language that establishes the Veterans Disability Clinic Fund which will provide funding for grants to law schools that maintain a veterans disability clinic.
“I am very humbled and pleased that this language was added to such a strong bill,” said Rep. Speedy. “There are currently 490,000 Hoosier veterans who call Indiana home and I want to ensure that those who have made sacrifices to protect our state and nation have all the tools to properly navigate the process in receiving all of their benefits.”
Law students could be given the opportunity to represent veterans in claim claims for their benefits or disability compensation for little to no cost for the veteran.
Rep. Speedy was also present for the signing of SEA 354 which establishes a Hoosier Women Veterans Program.
