STATEHOUSE- House Bill (HB) 1001, a major ethics reform package co-authored by State Rep. Mike Murphy (R-Indianapolis), passed the House today by a vote of 97 to 2.
"Just because something is legal doesn't mean it is right," said Rep. Murphy. "However, we still have a responsibility as elected officials to make sure our statutory code provides for complete transparency to the voters who elect us.
"As governors, mayors and other politicians in states all around us are getting caught red-handed in the midst of scandal, we in the Indiana legislature welcome further ethical scrutiny. I am proud to be a co-author of this measure, and hope the Senate approves it swiftly."
