STATEHOUSE - State Rep. Mike Murphy (R-Indianapolis) has been assigned to serve on two interim study groups aimed at preparing the General Assembly for important issues that will likely be discussed during the next legislative session. House leaders appointed Rep. Murphy to these committees.
Rep. Murphy will serve on the Administrative Rules Oversight Committee and the Interim Study Committee on Professional Licensing.
The Administrative Rules Oversight Committee will consider agency rules, deadlines and practices and the Interim Study Committee on Professional Licensing will study topics related to the oversight of thousands of professionals and dozens of industries.
"There are around 70 professions licensed by the Professional Licensing Agency," said Rep. Murphy. "The job of this committee will be to review issues relating to who is getting licensed and if it makes sense to remove license requirements for some professions."
Interim study committees and statutory commissions allow the Indiana General Assembly, a part-time legislature, to study important issues year-round. The work of the study committees and commissions often leads to legislation.
Rep. Murphy encourages constituents to contact him with questions or concerns through e-mail at email@example.com or by calling the Statehouse toll-free at 1-800-382-9841.
