(STATEHOUSE) Nov. 15, 2007 - This Veterans Day, state Representative Mike Murphy (R-Indianapolis) presented National Guard Chaplain Bryan Hult with the Sagamore of the Wabash on behalf of Gov. Mitch Daniels. Hult received the award at Grace Evangelical Church for his distinguished service and leadership.
Afterward, in formal and solemn military ceremony, Maj. Gen. R. Martin Umbarger pinned Hult with a star signifying his military promotion to Brigadier General.
Brig. Gen. Bryan Hult is the senior pastor at Grace Evangelical Church and has long served the local Southside community. His promotion to brigadier general makes him the highest-ranking chaplain in the National Guard in the United States.
"While I was there to honor him, it truly was my greatest honor to present this award to Brig. Gen. Bryan Hult," said Rep. Murphy. "It was humbling to stand in the presence of such a man who has dedicated his entire life to leadership in our community, in the military and the church."
