"Governor Daniels' property tax plan provides encouraging framework for long-lasting, permanent property tax reform.  The plan will provide extensive property tax relief by shifting the burden of state levies, such as child welfare, school operating costs, and school transportation away from property taxes.  This shift, along with expanded homestead deductions will provide substantial property tax relief for Hoosier homeowners.  In addition, it is important that local officials be held accountable for their spending with voter referenda on local capital projects and budget increases.

"There is still a great deal of work to be done that will require teamwork from all four caucuses, but the Governor's plan is definitely a step in the right direction."
