STATEHOUSE – State Rep. Cindy Kirchhofer (R-Beech Grove) is pleased to announce that the 2013 House Republican Internship Program is now accepting applications. The program is open to college students and graduates and to those who would like to gain professional experience as well as learn more about the legislative process. 

“The House Republicans strive to give interns the absolute greatest hands-on experience available,” said Rep. Kirchhofer. “We work with all interns to best utilize and harness their talents so  they can enter the professional world at the top of their game.”

Applicants from all academic majors are accepted. Interns will be compensated with a $700 bi-weekly stipend and can apply for a competitive $3,000 Verizon Scholarship. The scholarship can be applied toward educational expenses for the student’s current or future undergraduate or graduate studies.

The internship will be for the entire 2013 legislative session, which begins in January and runs through the end of April. It is a full-time internship, Monday through Friday  at the Statehouse, located in Indianapolis. 

Individuals interested in the internship program may consider four different concentrations when applying: member services, media, computer/technology and policy/fiscal. The Indiana House Republicans is  accepting applications for the internship program until October 31. at the website listed above.

Interviews will be conducted as applications are received. Applicants are encouraged to work with their school in order to obtain academic credit for the internship – most colleges and universities in Indiana offer class credit.
