I never thought the opportunity to represent House District 89 would be denied because of the absence of House Democrats. Instead of obstructing the democratic process, we should be working together to improve and pass good legislation. Representatives need to stand for the best interests of their constituents and by the Democrats thinking fleeing to Illinois represents their constituents, they deny all other legislators the right to fairly represent their constituents.
We are constitutionally obligated to pass a budget. Instead of staying here and debating the issues at hand, they have left holding the budget bill and 49 other bills hostage. From Urbana they have sent 140 additional amendments to the proposed budget - amendments that would increase spending by nearly half a billion dollars.
We've got pressing problems here in Indiana and we need a quorum of 67 members to solve them. It's time that the Democrats return, for the sake of Indiana.
