STATEHOUSE – “Last October, we pledged financial security for future generations through our state budget, and we certainly accomplished that goal. Our budget restores public education funding to prerecession levels, invests heavily in roads and bridges and protects taxpayers through strong reserves.  It is truly remarkable that we were also able to fund needed capital projects with cash rather than through long term bonding and pay off bonded indebtedness, and still put money back in Hoosiers’ pockets with historic broad based tax cuts.

“The signing of HEA 1001 is major victory worth celebrating, but it is important to note that this is an elected body doing the work that they were asked to do by constituents across the state.  We passed a balanced budget with no tax increases; we are living within our means; and we passed the largest tax cut in Hoosier history. This is what it looks like to have a government that works for the people.

“It is with great pleasure that Hoosiers can claim victory in our state’s budget – but this is part of our job - to live within our means and to provide Hoosiers with the peace of mind that we are budgeting for our state’s future.”
