[r88] Speaker Bosma Responds to Governor's Education Priorities (12/4/2014)

Thursday, December 4, 2014 7:00 pm

Start Date:  12/4/2014  Start Time:  1:50 PM

“I am pleased that the Governor is taking a proactive role in highlighting the importance of education in the coming session of the General Assembly. House Republicans announced in October our focus will be on increasing public school funding, fixing the funding formula and giving teachers and school administrators more flexibility in order to succeed in their critical roles.

“The Governor's additional call to action to invest in the future of our state through increased opportunity for all Hoosier students, regardless of where they attend school, is an important one. We will review his proposals and many others fully in the legislative process, making sure that they are the right choices for Hoosier children.

“I am especially appreciative of the Governor's Executive Order to dissolve the Center for Education and Career Innovation and hope that this decision will begin to address the discord we have experienced in education governance at the highest levels.  I hope this good faith step by Governor Pence will be the first of many by elected and appointed leaders to end the finger-pointing and allow all of us to work together for the betterment of Hoosier children.”
