STATEHOUSE –House Speaker Brian C. Bosma (R-Indianapolis) co-authored House Resolution 43 congratulating the Indianapolis International Airport (IND) on being named the best airport in North America.
The recognition comes from Airports Council International (ACI) as part of the annual Airport Service Quality awards for performance excellence. Airports are selected based on surveys conducted by ACI that measure 34 of the most important aspects of the airport experience. A minimum of 1,400 passengers are surveyed at each of the more than 280 participating airports every year.
“Our airport not only serves as one of the best welcome mats for travelers in the United States, but it also is a major economic development hub for Indiana – boosting our presence and our business across the state. I am proud of our top notch airport, and its 10,000 employees who have contributed to making this operation a national success,” said Speaker Bosma.
The Indianapolis Airport was named North America’s best airport for 2012 and 2010 and has been in the top three every year since. The ACI also names top airports for Africa, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and the Asia-Pacific region.
“We owe our unprecedented three first-place finishes among North American airports to our dedicated, world-class employees,” said Robert Duncan, Executive Director for the Indianapolis Airport Authority. “It is their tireless commitment and pride to maintain a safe, clean, courteous and dependable airport operation that allows IND to consistently elevate the travel experience for our guests.”
The Indianapolis Airport Authority owns and operates Indiana’s largest airport system. IND serves more than 7 million travelers and has an impact of approximately $4.5 billion on Indiana’s economy each year.
