STATEHOUSE— House Speaker Brian C. Bosma (R-Indianapolis) announced updates to the House Republican committee assignments after two new members joined the caucus.
State Rep. Casey Cox (R-Fort Wayne) was sworn in to serve the remainder of the term of State Rep. Phyllis Pond who passed away in September after a battle with pulmonary fibrosis. State Rep. Greg Beumer (R-Modoc) was sworn in to fulfill the remainder of the term of State Rep. Bill Davis who resigned from his seat in November to serve as the Executive Director of the Office of Community and Rural Affairs.
“Reps. Pond and Davis always led with integrity, and their leadership will be truly missed; however, I have full confidence our new members will serve Indiana well,” said Speaker Bosma.
Standing committees are an integral part of the legislative process. Committees with specific expertise receive public testimony and consider amendments to proposed legislation before it is heard on the House floor.
“I am confident in the abilities of both Reps. Cox and Beumer. Both have expertise in their specific fields and I know that they are each eager to begin their committee work and their leadership roles within our caucus,” said Speaker Bosma.
