Rep. Ober is filling the Ways and Means seat left by State Rep. Phyllis Pond who passed away in September after a battle with pulmonary fibrosis. He will also continue to serve as the Vice Chairman of the Employment, Labor and Pensions Committee.
“I am honored to be appointed to Ways and Means,” said Rep. Ober. “The fiscal integrity of our state is a priority to me and to all members of the committee. Rep. Pond’s leadership and experience will be missed, but I will follow in her steps as a true proponent of Hoosier values and hard work.”
The House Ways and Means Committee is a standing committee that makes recommendations to the Indiana General Assembly on any legislation dealing with the expenditure of money. Ways and Means also drafts the biannual Indiana budget which outlines how money will be allocated for the two upcoming fiscal years.
“This is an exciting learning experience for me. Ways and Means is the cornerstone of our Legislature, and I look forward to working with the committee to ensure that Indiana continues to be seen as the fiscal envy of the nation,” Rep. Ober said.
