STATEHOUSE — House Republican Speaker Brian C. Bosma (R-Indianapolis) announced committee members for the Indiana House Republican caucus, and Rep. David Ober (R-Albion) has been selected to serve as the Vice Chairman of Labor, Employment and Pensions – a position previously held by now Lt. Governor-elect Sue Ellspermann.
Committee chairmen and caucus leaders are selected biennially by the majority party after each election year.
“It is an honor to serve as the Vice Chairman of Labor, Employment and Pensions,” said Rep. Ober. “I believe that through hard work and effective communication, my colleagues and I will find positive solutions to the issues currently affecting Hoosiers.”
In addition to his leadership role, Rep. Ober will also serve on the Agriculture and Rural Development and Government and Regulatory Reform committees.
Standing committees are an integral part of the legislative process. Committees with specific expertise receive public testimony and work out the details of proposed legislation before it is heard on the House floor.
“I am confident in the abilities of each of these leaders, and I know that they are each eager to begin their committee work and their leadership roles,” said Speaker Bosma. “We are preparing a new generation of legislative leadership in Indiana, armed to deal with today’s critical problems. Our constituents expect us to work together, and I assure Hoosiers that we will.”
